Lot 1121		*Fr-1613N. 1935-D, $1 Silver Certificate, Misalignment Star Note. One of our favorite types of errors! Not so much as a misalignment error, but that it is a true oxymoron. An error on a Star Note is always something special with this note being no exception. You can just make out the very bottom of the next note on top and the seal and serial numbers are up high. The Federal Reserve Seal is printed over the serial number on the back of the note. When the flap is opened, the note is missing the entire overprint on the inside part on the face. Fr-1913-B. 1950-C, $10 Federal Reserve Note, Almost Uncirculated. Double butterfly and very impressive as such. Fr-1976-I. 1988-A, $20 Federal Reserve Note, Uncirculated. Large butterfly cutting error along the bottom part of the note, affecting almost all of the note. No problem with any of the printing as this was created by the sheet being folded after the printing and before the cutting process. Fr-1920-B. 1981, $50 Federal Reserve Note, Very Fine. Large gutter fold almost from the top left coner to center of right, cutting into Grant's eyebrows and just missing his left eye. Top part of Treasury Seal is also affected. Lot 1137		Fr-1914-E. 1988, $1 Federal Reserve Notes. An absolutely incredible set of notes showing a 100% full-board break during printing. Without going into too much detail, on the first note you can see that the face is very lightly printed in some areas were the later note is totally blank. A cardboard like item is used during printing to press the paper into the plate and when it breaks, there is not enough pressure on the paper to force it into the plate and thus the printing becomes weak until nothing is being printed at all. A very scarce error in its own right, but rare when they come sequentially with such a major difference consecutively. While difficult but not impossible, we have researched these notes by their serial numbers to determine that is was from the 1988-A Series. Lot of 2 notes. About Uncirculated. Lot 1164		Unusual Third Print and Major Misalignment Overprint Errors. Our first note in this lot appears to be a fold over error, but we cannot locate any folds and thus find it hard to categorize the error. The most obvious error is the Federal Reserve Seal and part of a serial number and a whole serial number missing. This we believe is from another sheet blocking the overprinting process. This sheet would be fed in slightly sideways; thus the Treasury Seal and part of the serial number were applied to the note. Now to the back of the note. There is part of a serial number near the middle of the note, top, which would line up as being the right positional serial number for one note and the Federal Reserve Seal is located in the correct area for the next note on the bottom. Therefore, the sheet would have been fed almost sideways with the face down. A very rare and unusual error. Spectacular is one world that comes to mind. A quick search of auction records shows that only a few $1 notes from a recent series, and while just as spectacular, no other denominations could be located. A marvelous example of an inverted face.
